Getting started
The CF-405 by M-S Cash Drawer offers durability and dependability, making it well-suited for restaurant use over many years. As a printer-driven cash drawer, it requires a wired connection to the receipt printer, enabling the POS system to automatically open it. Keep this in mind when setting up your connections.
Hardware setup
Note: It is crucial to connect each side of the cable to the correct device. The ends of the cable differ, so directionality is important.
As stated earlier, this cash drawer operates via a connection to a receipt printer. Pay attention to which end of the cable links to each device. The cable is clearly labeled on both sides to indicate compatibility with the respective device.

Step 1: Locate the RJ-12 (phone jack) port at the bottom rear of the receipt printer among the ports and connections. It might be offset from other ports and is typically marked with a cash drawer symbol or "drawer-kick" label. Connect the designated printer end of the cable to this port.

Step 2: Attach the other end of the cable to your Cash Drawer. The drawer features only one port for connection, ensuring a straightforward setup.
Step 3: Open the eatOS app on your POS (Point-of-Sale) system and access the pull-down menu by dragging or tapping.

Step 4: Select "Advanced."

Step 5: Choose "Cash Register."

Step 6: Tap on "New."

Step 7: Fill out the fields in the setup window. Assign a name to your cash drawer as you prefer. From the "Drawer Model" dropdown, select "Star Cash Drawer - Ethernet." In the "Drawer Attached Printer" field, choose the corresponding printer your drawer is connected to — typically your receipt printer. Press "Done."

Step 8: This step is crucial. You should now see the screen depicted below. Tap the cash drawer listing to mark it as active. A black-circled checkmark should appear next to the active drawer listing.
Note: If you do not activate the drawer by marking it, it will not function properly!
Testing
As mentioned before, navigate to the New Order screen and press the "No Sale" button to ensure functionality. See the screenshot below for guidance.
