Hardware setup

Step 1: Plug in the reader via the USB plug to one of the open USB ports on the POS Terminal on the underside of the screen where the POS power connector is. You'll most likely see a light flash briefly on the fingerprint reader showing that it is connected and is receiving power.

Step 2: Start the eatOS Point of Sale app if it is not already running.

Step 3: From your new order screen tap the drop-down arrow (a) or slide the setting bar down (b):

Step 4: Select Advanced

Step 5: Tap on Workforce (a) then select Employees (b). Next, click on the three vertical dots to the right of the employee that you want to add a fingerprint for. (c)

Step 6: You will then see a pop-up list. Tap Edit.

Step 7: Scroll down slightly on the employee page to get to the bottom of the page. Select Edit Fingerprint.

Step 8: Accept the disclaimer saying, "I consent eatOS system to use my biometric for records purposes"

Step 9: You'll then see a popup prompting you to put your finger on the Fingerprint scanner. Please follow the prompt on the POS screen and lift and replace your finger on the fingerprint reader as much as necessary. Feel free to exit the screen whenever you wish.

Step 10: When at the login screen, press the fingerprint ID button at the lower left of the keypad.

Step 11: After hitting the fingerprint ID button, you'll see a prompt pop up asking you to place your finger or thumb on the reader. Be sure to use the same finger that you used when you originally enrolled your fingerprint. After placing your finger on the reader, wait until you see a green checkmark or confirmation that the read was a success. If nothing happens, lift your finger off the reader and replace it with the reader again. That's it!

Congratulations! You now have a fingerprint tied to that particular employee! The system will distinguish that fingerprint from any other in its records. If you have a fingerprint recorded for every employee, there will be no need to type in a PIN number when logging in unless you need it for backup or lose a finger. Just press the fingerprint button on the login screen and place your finger on the pad. That's it! Proceed to step 10 to see details.
