Getting started

The M-S Cash Drawer's CF-405 is a sturdy and reliable drawer that can serve a restaurant for many years. This cash drawer is printer-driven. This means that there is a wired connection between the receipt printer and the drawer that allows the drawer to be "kicked" open by the POS. Keep this in mind when connecting.

Hardware setup

Note: It is important to connect the correct end of the cable to each device. There is a difference between each cable end, and it matters which direction you hook it up in.

As mentioned before, the drawer is printer-driven and requires a connection between it and the receipt printer. It is important to watch what end of the cable connects to each device. As you can see in the picture below, the cable is labeled on both ends specifying what end connects to what.

Step 1: On the bottom rear of the receipt printer where the ports and connections are, you will see an RJ-12 (phone jack) port. Sometimes it is offset or separated from the other ports. Most of the time it will have a small "cash drawer-like" picture or drawer-kick label next to the port indicating that that port is for cash drawers. Connect the printer end of the cable to the receipt printer.

Step 2: Then connect the drawer end of the cable to the Cash Drawer. There is only one hole or place for the cable to go and it can only fit one way so don't fret!

Step 3: On the eatOS app on your POS (Point-of-Sale), drag or tap on the pull-down arrow.

Step 4: Tap on Advanced

Step 5: Tap on Cash Register

Step 6: Then tap on New

Step 7: Go ahead and fill out the following fields. Name can be whatever you want for the drawer's name. On the Drawer Model drop-down, choose Star Cash Drawer - Ethernet. Finally, under Drawer Attached Printer, choose the printer that your drawer is connected to. (Most likely your receipt printer). Press Done

Step 8: Important step. You should see the following pictured screen at this point. Tap on the drawer listing to mark the drawer as active. A black-circled check mark should appear next to the listing.

Note: If you do not mark or select the drawer as active, the drawer will not work!

Congratulations you have connected your cash drawer, and it should work. Try running a cash transaction or simply hit the no-sale button at the New Order screen.

Testing

As mentioned before, try going to the New Order screen and tapping the No Sale button. See screenshot below
