Kiosk Guide


Introduction

Getting Started


To embark on your journey with eatOS, begin by setting up your eatOS account, a seamless process accessible either through our dedicated eatOS portal or our versatile range of apps, including POP, POS, Kiosk, and Webpage. This introductory step lays the foundation for your future interactions with our platform, granting you access to a host of powerful tools and features.



Step 1: Create eatOS Dashboard Account

Note: This article does not cover the full configuration of your eatOS restaurant settings. Please see all related articles to help you get started.


1a. Create Your Dashboard Account


1b. Enter the required information and click Next


1c. These are your official account details to be used in all account setup of your POS. It is important to provide detailed and correct information to successfully create your dashboard account


  • First Name, Last Name – restaurant owner information/main Point of Contact
  • Email – Make sure to input your official and working email. Your email will be used as the official channel of communication for all notification and verification purposes
  • Password – Your password is important for you to be able to log in to all devices
  • Confirm Password - Re-enter the provided password to confirm
  • Phone Number – insert the active mobile/phone number where it receives verifications and notifications
  • Country – your restaurant location



Note that the email and password provided here will be used as your login credentials to all the eatOS devices.


  • Restaurant Name – establishment name – must be the registered business name
  • Restaurant Type – defines your restaurant concept – Fine Dining/Café/Fast Food/Casual Dining, etc.
  • Restaurant Address - enter the restaurant's complete address, including the city and zip code
  • Please review the Seller Agreement and e-Sign Consent



Enter the Security Code and select the "Finish Sign Up" button once you have done so.



  • Select where to receive the confirmation code and tap the "Send Code" button



  • Enter the OTP number and tap "Confirm OTP" and you will be redirected to the login page

Register Account Using License – Activation


Step 1: Go to your Self-Service Kiosk application for Android and sign in to your registered account, then enter your registered eatOS email and password



1a. Once you have successfully created your dashboard account, sign in to your Point of Sale using the same email address and password to register your LICENSE KEY to be able to have access to the eatOS dashboard.


Reminder: Your License Key will be supplied by your designated account manager; please get in touch with them to obtain it.



1b. After logging into the application, you will be prompted with a quick setup guide
i. Select a revenue center.
ii. Tap on continue or skip to proceed.



iii. Then enter the preferred device name
iv. Tap on continue; you will then be redirected to the kiosk home screen

Setup and Configuration


Step 1: Menu Settings


After initially setting the device name, you will be redirected to the “Menu Settings”


1a. Select the preferred category menu items you want to be displayed in the kiosk.



1b. Select the preferred add-ons you want to be displayed on the kiosk.



Step 2: General Settings



2a. Customize


  • Pay at counter - Send to the cashier instead of charging at the kiosk
  • Close Order Automatically - Disables adjustments after the customer is done paying
  • Prompt for mobile number - Ask the customer for phone number
  • Disclaim message - Displays "Do not use my info for any marketing" message
  • Enable QR payment - Enables customers to pay through a QR code
  • Default Checked - Automatically selects the option for the disclaimer message
  • Simple Welcome Mode - Removes all banners, logos, and messages during kiosk idle
  • **Instabug **- Enable to display of the Instabug chat bubble to report any bugs or errors faster.



2b. Select Card Reader


  • Select the card reader attached to the kiosk from the list.



2c. My Account


  • View the account logged in
  • Switch Employee - When tapped, it will ask for the employee PIN. Tap enter to proceed.
  • Sign out will log out of the account and be redirected to the login page.



Step 3: Gratuity Settings


  • Set up gratuity on the kiosk, where you can enable or disable gratuity and customize it beyond the default.



3a. Gratuity Enable - Enable or disable gratuity option in kiosk.



3b. Allow Custom Gratuity Amount - Allow customers to customize the gratuity amount aside from the default amounts.



3c. Set Suggested Gratuity Amount - Select and update the amount by tapping or removing the suggested gratuity amount and input the preferred amount.



Step 4: Printer Settings



4a. Receipt Bill Printers


This will automatically show the printers connected to the kiosk.



4b. Bill Settings


  • Auto Print - If enabled, the check receipt is printed automatically after orders are complete
  • Display on Single Item - If enabled, check receipt will always display quantity on a single item
  • Free Items on Bill - The free items will be included on the customer's check receipt if enabled. Free items do not have a listed price and will not be added to the total check amount.
  • Free Modifiers on Bill - An option to whether a free modifier should be included on the customer's check. You can toggle it off to disable it for a less cluttered check receipt.



4c. Receipt Settings


  • Auto Print - If enabled, the customer’s receipt is printed automatically after orders are complete
  • Print Customer Copy - A customer copy of the receipt will always be printed if enabled
  • Print This With - Select the order type to be printed
  • Suggested Gratuity on Receipt - The suggested gratuity amount is printed on the customer’s receipt if enabled
  • Signature and Tip Line - A tip line is printed on the customer's receipt so customers can add a tip amount or select from the pre-defined tip amount to add to the total check



4d. Select Your Default Kitchen Order Ticket Printer Models


  • Kitchen Order Ticket Print With - Select the order type to be printed on the kitchen printer.
  • Kitchen Order Ticket Modifier Size - Select the modifier size to be printed on the kitchen.
  • Print Each Item Individually - Disable not printing each item individually.
  • Large Kitchen Order Ticket Item Text - The item is printed in large font when sent to the kitchen printer.
  • Large Kitchen Order Ticket Order Number - The order number is printed in large font when sent to the Kitchen.
  • Printer Reverse Kitchen Order Ticket Font Style -


Step 5: Advance Settings



5a. Connect to Server


  • View the kiosk connection status from the server
  • Connect or disconnect the kiosk device from the server
  • Manually Connect to Server - Refresh the connection of the device to the server.



5b. Setup Device Name


  • Set up the preferred device name if applicable.



Reminder: Once you finish with the changes tap on the “Done” button to save the changes. For Tizen Kiosk applications, the process is the same the only difference is that Tizen Kiosk does not have a printer setting and advanced settings.

Dynamic Menu Settings


Step 1: On your eatOS web page, log in using your activated eatOS account.


Step 2: From your dashboard, on the left side navigation bar, tap on Hardware.



Step 3: You can use the drop-down filter box to filter the devices to the Kiosk Device.



Step 4: Then, from the filtered list select the kiosk device preferred, hover over the "Date Created column" and select the Edit icon.



Step 5: General - These settings let the user update the device information, customize, and enable and disable the user's preferred settings.



5a. Device Information


  • Device Name - update the device's name
  • Serial Number - update the device's serial number if applicable
  • Debug Mode - is a tool used during software development to identify and fix issues
  • **UDID **- update the device's UDID
  • IP Address - update the device's IP address if applicable



5b. Customize**


  • Pay at Counter - Have the option to pay at the counter.
  • Pay by QR - Have the option to pay using the QR code.
  • Close order automatically - Automatically close orders once payment is made.
  • Prompt for Mobile Number - Ask for the customer's mobile number.
  • Default Checked - Select the option for the disclaimer message
  • Simple Welcome Mode - Display a simple welcome screen without the animations and banners.
  • Disclaim Message - Displays "Do not use my info for any marketing" message



5c. Revenue Center


  • Revenue Center - Update the device's revenue center



5d. Hardware Settings


  • Card Reader - Assign card reader; this function is available for Android kiosks
  • KOT Printer - Assign KOT Printer
  • Receipt Printer - Assign receipt printer.



5e. Bill Settings


  • Auto Print Bill - If enabled, the device will auto-print the bill.
  • Always Display Item Quantity on Single Item - Display each item quantity if enabled
  • Show Free Items on Bill - If enabled, display the free items on the bill.
  • Show Free Modifiers on Bill - display free modifiers on the bill if enabled.



5f. Receipt Settings


  • Auto Print Receipt - If enabled, the check receipt is printed automatically after orders are complete
  • Always Print Customer Copy - A customer copy of the receipt will always be printed if enabled
  • Display Suggested Gratuity on Receipt - The suggested gratuity amount is printed on the customer’s receipt if enabled
  • Display Signature & Tip Line - A tip line is printed on the customer's receipt so customers can add a tip amount or select from the pre-defined tip amount to add to the total check
  • Print this with - Select the order type to be printed
  • Receipt Type - Select what type of receipt the user will receive.
  • Print If Amount Above - Print the receipt if the amount is above the specified amount.



5g. KOT Settings


  • Print Each Item Individually - Enable or disable printing each item individually.
  • Large KOT Order Number - Display a the Order Number Larger.
  • Reverse KOT Font Style
  • KOT Print With - Select the order type to be printed on the kitchen printer.
  • KOT Modifier Size - Select the modifier size to be printed on the kitchen.



5h. Advanced Settings


  • Auto Restart - Auto restart the device at the scheduled time.
  • Send New Order Emails to - Select an email from the dropdown list to whom the order emails will be sent.
  • **Restart At **- set restart time
  • Access Control Panel Password - If enabled, the device will request a control panel password.
  • Control Panel Password - set a control panel password.



Step 6: Homescreen



6a. Logo Settings


i **Logo **- Upload your logo for the device.


Note: Accepted formats - .jpg, .svg, .png, .mp4., Max size - 200KB., videos max size 5MB, Resolution 1080px x 1920px


ii. Logo Position on screen - Select the position of the logo on screen.



6b. ** Welcome Image Settings **


  • Display - Select if you want the device to display a slideshow ||| (maximum: 6 images) or a short video clip.


Note: Accepted formats - .jpg, .svg, .png, .mp4., Max size - 200KB., videos max size 5MB, Resolution 1080px x 1920px


  • Home screen Image Timer - Select or create a custom timer for the image transition if applicable.
  • Theme Selector - Select the preferred theme color for your kiosk home screen.



6c. **Welcome Message Settings **


  • Welcome Message - Input your preferred welcome message.
  • Welcome Message Position on Screen - Select the screen position of the welcome message.
  • Welcome Message Font - select the font size preferred.
  • Welcome Message Animation - select the animation style preferred.
  • Welcome Message Animation Timer - Select the timer for the image transition.



6d. **Idle Screen Settings **


  • Timeout Timer - Select or customize a timer for customers who are idle to start the countdown timer.
  • Countdown Timer - Set the number of seconds the device will wait for the customer to return before restarting the app.



6e. **Payment Options **


  • Select Payment Options - Select the payment option that will be available for users who are using the kiosk.



6f. QR code Settings


* QR on Home Screen - If enabled, will display the QR code for payment on the home screen.
* Logo on QR - Personalize the QR code by adding the preferred logo.

Step 7: Menu



7a. Logo Settings


* Logo - Upload a logo for your kiosk menu page.

7b. Banner Image Settings


  • **Display **- Upload a banner image or video for your menu page in the kiosk.


Note: Accepted formats - .jpg, .svg, .png., Max size - 200KB., videos max size 5MB, Resolution 1080px x 1920px



7c. Menu Settings


  • Language(s) - Select the preferred language for the device


Note: The currently supported languages for now are English and Spanish


  • **Categories **- Select Menu Categories to be displayed.
  • Menu Options - Enable or disable menu availability for dine-in or takeout.
  • Product Modifier Text 1 - Create a message to be displayed when selecting a product modifier.
  • Product Modifier Text 2 - Create a message to be displayed when selecting a product modifier.



Step 8: Checkout:



8a. Checkout Settings


  • Checkout Cart Text 1 - Input a checkout message.
  • Checkout Cart Text 2 - Input a checkout message.



8b. Gratuity Settings


  • Allow Gratuity on Kiosk - If enabled, the gratuity amount can either be selected or inputted on the kiosk
  • Allow Custom Gratuity Amount - Allow a user to input their preferred gratuity amount.
  • Preset Gratuity Options (Less $10) - customize a gratuity amount in $ for orders below $10.
  • Preset Gratuity Options (Over $10) - customize a gratuity amount in % for orders above $10.



Step 9: Order Preview



9a. Order Preview Settings


  • Order Preview Text - Set a order preview text
  • Order Number Screen Text - Set a text once the order number is provided.



9b. SMS Settings

  • Order Confirmation SMS - If enabled, send a confirmation message to the user.
  • SMS Text Preview - Set a confirmation message for the confirmation message.
  • Order Ready SMS - If enabled, send a text message to inform the user that the order is ready.
  • SMS Text preview - Set an input message for order-ready SMS.

Testing


  • One way of testing the Self-Service Kiosk is by processing an order through the device.


Step 1: Process an order



Step 2: Check if the counter and kitchen devices reflect the order.



Step 3: If everything works accordingly, both the kitchen and front counter devices will reflect the test order.




Troubleshooting


No Menu Displayed


Step 1: On your eatOS dashboard tap on "Menu Management"



Step 2: Then select "Menu" .



Step 3: Afterwards find your currently active "Menu Name"


Step 4: And hover over the "Date Created" column and select the edit icon.



Step 5: Then check if the "Kiosk Menu" is marked with a check icon



Step 6: Proceed to the Availability and find "Availability Kiosk", make sure the menu date and time are set.

Paper Jam

Step 1: Turn off and unplug the printer
Step 2: Remove all printer paper from the tray and try reloading
Step 3:Inspect and reload
Step 4: Plug in and restart the printer
