Viewing Order Wait Times
Tracking order wait times is a crucial part of ensuring excellent service and operational efficiency in a restaurant. Monitoring how long each order takes to be processed allows management to identify bottlenecks, optimize kitchen workflows, and ensure customers receive their meals on time. Below is a step-by-step guide to help you view order times in the eatOS system.
- Open the Orders Section and Activity Logs in Separate Tabs
To efficiently track order wait times, you will need to open both the Orders section and the Activity Logs section in separate browser tabs. This will enable you to compare the timestamps from both sections side by side for a clearer view.
Steps:
Step 1: Open the Orders section in one browser tab. This section provides details about all orders placed during the selected time period.
Step 2: Open the Activity Logs section in another browser tab. The Activity Logs will show the exact timestamps.

By having both tabs open, you can compare the relevant data more easily.
- Locate the Specific Order Number
The next step is to find the specific order number you want to track in both the Transactions section and the Activity Logs section. Each order will have a unique identifier, for example, Order #1.
Steps:
Step 1: In the Transactions tab, look for the order number that you want to track. You will see details such as the time the order was paid and the time it was completed.
Step 2: In the Activity Logs tab, search for the same order number. It is important to match the order number from both sections to ensure you are comparing the correct timestamps.
- Compare the Timestamps
Now that you have found the correct order number in both sections, you can compare the timestamps to determine the wait time.
Steps:
Step 1: In the Transactions tab, find the Order Paid or Completed timestamp. This represents the time when the order was completed and ready for delivery.
Step 2: In the Activity Logs tab, find the order timestamp. This represents the time when the order was sent to the kitchen to begin preparation.
Step 3: Subtract the Transactions timestamp from the Activity Logs timestamp to calculate the total wait time for that order.

For example, if the order were sent to the kitchen at 12:00 PM and completed at 12:30 PM, the total wait time for that order would be 30 minutes.
- Repeat for Other Orders
To calculate the wait times for additional orders, repeat the process for each order number you wish to track. By comparing the timestamps in both the Orders section and the Activity Logs, you can accurately calculate the wait times for multiple orders.
Viewing order wait times provides essential insights into kitchen performance and service efficiency. By opening the Orders section and Activity Logs section in separate tabs, locating the order number, and comparing timestamps, you can easily track wait times for individual orders. Monitoring these wait times regularly will allow you to pinpoint areas of improvement in your kitchen workflow and improve overall customer satisfaction.
