Workflow Printer Assignment Guide

Welcome to our article on "Assigning Printers." Once your Point-of-Sale system has seamlessly detected the available printers, this guide will provide you with an in-depth overview of each function, enabling you to make informed decisions when selecting the appropriate printer for specific job designations. Whether you're running a restaurant, retail store, or any other business, efficiently assigning printers to different tasks can significantly enhance workflow and productivity.

Three default printer functions available are:
Receipt/Bill Printer
KOT (Kitchen) Printer
Custom Item Printer

Two dynamic printer functions available are:
Product-Specific Printer Routing
Category-Specific Printer Routing



Default Printer Functions

Assigning Default KOT Printer
The Kitchen Order Ticket (KOT) serves as a digital method for transmitting orders to the kitchen staff. This ticket contains essential information, including the table number, the items ordered, their quantities, and any applied modifiers or add-ons.

Navigate through the Settings tab > select Advanced > select Printers.
Select your default KOT printer model from your printer assignment panel.
Results in it becoming the universal printer that prints all products.

Important Note: Notice that you have the same sets of printers detected for Receipt/Bill, KOT (Kitchen), and Custom Printer. The user will experience duplicated printing if the default printer is the same printer set at Product-Specific or Category-Specific level.



Assigning Default Bill/Receipt Printer
The bill/receipt printer is utilized to print order bills and transaction receipts, which can be customized for both customer and merchant copies.

Navigate through the Settings tab > select Advanced > select Printers.
Select your Bill/Receipt printer model from your printer assignment panel.
Results in it becoming the universal printer that prints all receipts.

Important Note: Notice that you have the same sets of printers detected for Receipt/Bill, KOT (Kitchen), and Custom Printer. The user will experience duplicated printing if the default printer is the same printer set at Product-Specific or Category-Specific level.



Assigning Default Custom Item Printer

Any order containing custom items only will be received by this printer.
Navigate through the Settings tab > select Advanced > select Printers.
Select your Default Custom Item printer model from your printer assignment panel.
Results in it becoming the universal printer that prints all custom items.


Important Note: Notice that you have the same sets of printers detected for Receipt/Bill, KOT (Kitchen), and Custom Printer. The user will experience duplicated printing if the default printer is the same printer set at the Product-Specific or Category-Specific level.



Dynamic Printer Functions

Assigning Product-Specific Routing

Note: You have two options to assign a Product-Specific Routing Printer: through the Dashboard or the POS.

Dashboard Version
Log in to the eatOS dashboard > select Menu Management > select Products.




Hoover to the date section and select the pencil icon to edit the existing product or click + New Product to assign printer.





Designate printer assignment.





Important Note: Notice that you have the same sets of printers detected for Receipt/Bill, KOT (Kitchen), and Custom Printer. The user will experience duplicated printing if the default printer is the same printer set at the Product-Specific or Category-Specific level.



POS Version


Navigate through Settings tab > select Menu Management > select Product.
Select existing product or Add New Category to assign printer.



Designate printer assignment by Assigned Printer pop-up selector.

Assigning Category-Specific Routing

Note: There are two ways you can Assign a Category-Specific Routing Printer: Dashboard or POS.

Dashboard Version

Log in to the eatOS dashboard > select Menu Management > select Categories.




Hoover to the date section and select the pencil icon to edit the existing category or click + New Category to assign printer.



Designate printer assignment.






Important Note: Notice that you have the same sets of printers detected for Receipt/Bill, KOT (Kitchen), and Custom Printer. The user will experience duplicated printing if the default printer is the same printer set at the Product-Specific or Category-Specific level.



POS Version

Navigate through Settings tab > select Menu Management > select Category.



Select existing product or Add New Category to assign printer.

Designate printer assignment by Assigned Printer pop-up selector.
